Our Story

We are proud to say Bohemio Furniture has been operating for over 27 years supplying Melbourne, Australia and International customers with quality hardwood timber furniture that are uniquely our own. With time, we have perfected the craft of manufacturing and selecting pieces that you won't find anywhere else and which are made by skilled craftsmen using sustainable hardwood timber. As a family owned and operated business, you'll find three generations working in store to offer friendly service and excellent knowledge on all our products so come visit us today.

Our story began in 1995 when we opened our first shop to the public on High Street, Malvern with an array of interesting products prominently sourced from India. Soon after, we were approached by several large department stores, both local and interstate, where we began wholesaling Australia wide.

In 2002, our Richmond store in the heart of Swan St opened, with beautiful decorative items now included such as lamps, vases, candles and more were now sold direct to the public. The response was overwhelming and people came from far and wide to acquire our rich and earthy pieces

As business grew steadily, a second store opened in the edgy suburb of Fitzroy. After looking at several showrooms all across Melbourne one stood out far above the rest. A warehouse style showroom in vibrant Fitzroy was the new hotspot for Bohemio customers.

It was in 2006 when the doors opened to showcase a large open floorplan with beautiful industrial beams inside. The store is now a landmark on Johnston St, with beautiful pieces of furniture from various exotic locations around the world.

Over the years Bohemio has been through the highs and lows of dealing with countries such as India and now has a reputation for delivering quality products at affordable prices with great service and happy customers.  They still travel far and wide to source their goods and make sure the products received are of the upmost quality. Now in their 19th year of business, Bohemio has launched their website where you can discover a wide range of their products in stock.

Bohemio furniture has been handcrafted using traditional carving and joinery  techniques and using wood speciescenerys available in countries of origin and not subject to risk of depletionion. Each piece is unique and variations in colour, measurements and finish are natural characteristics of our handcrafted items.

The furniture producers have been especially selected on criteria involving social and labour ethics and practices, work force education and development efforts and forestation activities.

With no end in sight, Bohemio endeavours to deliver the same great products with the friendly and helpful service that it started with. Now with the second generation of family working in store, the family owned and operated business will pass on the same values for many more generations to come.
